As we celebrate National Salad Month, aka the best month of the year, lettuce dish out the freshest findings from our recent survey with OnePoll to learn more about what the perfect (and weirdest) salad looks like.
A poll of 2,000 Americans revealed that…
78% of salad lovers are diving into their leafy greens at least twice a week, proving that salads aren’t just a side dish – they’re the star of the show! But what’s the real hero of the plate? According to the survey, a whopping 61% crown greens as the “main character” of salads.
Now, let’s talk toppings! From traditional toppings like cheese and tomatoes to more adventurous choices like peppermint, popcorn, and peanut butter, salads offer endless opportunities for culinary creativity. As for dressings, the classics like ranch (50%), Italian (30%), and Caesar (25%) are crowd favorites.
But what makes a salad truly stand out? It’s all about freshness! Salad-makers said when purchasing lettuce, they prioritize freshness (73%), taste (46%), and crunch factor (37%) in what they buy. And 73% believe lettuce grown and packaged closer to where it’s sold is fresher than lettuce grown and packaged further away.
As we raise our forks to toast National Salad Month, let’s celebrate the vibrant world of greens, toppings, and dressings that make every salad a delicious adventure!
