Brooklyn Borough President Salutes Rooftop Farming
Brooklyn Borough President Marty Markowitz highlighted rooftop farming as one of the innovative green industries that is putting Brooklyn “on top of everyone’s lists” in his February 2, State of the Borough Address.
Gotham Green’s co-founder, Viraj Puri, was singled out for praise by Markowitz, during his recent address, as he announced the company would be building their first commercial rooftop farm on a rooftop in Greenpoint, Brooklyn.
Gotham Greens grew out of New York Sun Works, the non-profit organization that designed and operated the Science Barge. As consultants, BrightFarm Systems performed preliminary ecological analysis during the feasibility stage of their project and was instrumental in attracting early stage public energy conservation funding.
